The Slovenian Language Technologies Society (SDJT), the Centre for Language Resources and Technologies at the University of Ljubljana (CJVT), and the research infrastructures CLARIN.SI (Jožef Stefan Institute) and DARIAH-SI (Institute of Contemporary History and ZRC SAZU) organise the biennial conference “Language Technologies and Digital Humanities”. The conference has more than 20 years of tradition, and was thematically expanded in 2016 to include digital humanities. This year, the organisational committee of the conference will be led by INZ, and will take place at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science of the University of Ljubljana.

Conference topics

The conference aims to bring together researchers from various backgrounds and methodological frameworks. The main topics will include but are not limited to:

  • Speech and other mono- and multilingual language technologies
  • Digital linguistics: translation studies, corpus linguistics, lexicology and lexicography, standardisation
  • Digital humanities and historical studies, ethnology, literary studies, musicology, cultural heritage, archaeology, and fine arts
  • Digital humanities in education and digital publishing

We welcome submissions that present guidelines, research, good practices, projects and results in these areas. The conference will also include invited lectures, a student section, and roundtables on topics related to the conference. The official languages of the conference will be Slovene and English.

Submission guidelines

We invite both extended abstracts and full papers. Both will be published in the conference proceedings and, at the start of the conference, also on the conference website under a Creative Commons licence. Authors should submit extended abstracts or full papers for review in anonymised form.

The official languages of the conference are Slovene and English.

  • Extended abstracts should be between 1,500 and 3,000 words and must not exceed 10 pages + References.
  • Full papers should be between 4,000 and 6,500 words and must not exceed 20 pages + References.*

(*Papers that do not meet the minimum criteria for a full paper will be treated as extended abstracts.)

For a paper/abstract in English, please use the Word template, the LaTeX template [.zip], or the Overleaf LaTeX template (.zip and Overleaf contain both English and Slovene versions). To prepare a paper in Slovene, please use the Slovene Word template (also available on the SL site).

An extended abstract does not contain an abstract at the beginning or a summary in a foreign language at the end of the text, but it does include keywords. Example of an extended abstract.

Submissions should be made via the EasyChair platform at the following link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=jtdh2026.

Student papers

Student papers constitute a separate category and will have a dedicated section at the conference; the best student paper will also be selected and awarded. Only full papers (not extended abstracts) are eligible for this category. Authors must indicate at submission, in the EasyChair form, that their contribution is a “student paper”. For student papers, all authors must be undergraduate or postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) students. Students may also co-author papers with non-student authors and/or submit extended abstracts; however, such submissions will be treated as regular papers or abstracts.
